President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Pope Leo XIV on July 9. Later, he will meet with Italian President Sergio Mattarella.

Thus, according to the publication, Leo XIV received Zelenskyy in an audience on Wednesday at the papal summer residence in Castel Gandolfo near Rome.
In addition, later that day, Zelenskyy will meet with Italian President Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinal Palace in Rome, and then take part in the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine, which is taking place in the Italian capital on Thursday and Friday.
The Vatican press service reported that today, July 9, the Pope is scheduled to receive Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his entourage in an audience in the morning.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the first telephone conversation between Pope Leo XIV and russian leader vladimir putin took place in June. The Pope called on russia to make a gesture that would promote peace and stressed the importance of dialogue.
