On the morning of July 3, it became known that the number of injured of two explosions in the village of Berezyna, Zhytomyr Region, on the M-06 highway had increased to 82. Of these, 38 people were hospitalized, including four children and a Japanese citizen. Operational and investigative actions are ongoing, the causes of the tragedy are being investigated.
This was reported by the head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Bunechko.
Thus, the number of injured due two explosions near Zhytomyr has increased to 82 people - 38 citizens are in hospitals, including four children. The condition of those hospitalized is moderate or mild.
"One foreigner was injured - a Japanese citizen, who is also currently receiving assistance in the hospital," Bunechko added.
Two people were killed as a result of the emergency. The body of the second person was unblocked by rescuers this night.
"The investigative and operational group worked all night and continues to work. Now the households are being inspected. We have about 100 households that were affected. Unfortunately, about a quarter of them are completely destroyed," Bunechko said.
According to him, the consequences of the two explosions that occurred on July 2 near the village of Berezyna near Zhytomyr could have been "much more terrible."
It is indicated that the fire has been extinguished. Operational and investigative actions are ongoing at the scene, the causes of the tragedy are being clarified.
Earlier, Bunechko informed that the explosions occurred on the territory of one of the private enterprises.
Currently, in the Zhytomyr Region, the M-06 Kyiv-Chop highway section has been fully restored after the emergency situation that occurred on July 2.
Recall that on July 2, at around 06:00 pm, an explosion occurred near the village of Berezyna in the Hlybochytska community of the Zhytomyr Region. The emergency occurred on the 126th kilometer of the M-06 Kyiv-Chop highway, traffic in both directions was blocked.
After the explosion and fire, experts urged residents to close their windows and limit their time outdoors.
