Air Force expose major-"mole" of elite russian unit

The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed a "mole" of an elite special unit of the FSB of the russian federation in the ranks of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He turned out to be one of the Ukrainian majors, the SSU press service reports.

"During a special operation in the Lviv Region, a major of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who turned out to be a russian agent, was detained. Occupiers recruited him through his former ex-wife who was ex-military, who works for the aggressor in Melitopol," the report says.

According to the case materials, the activities of the "mole" were coordinated by a personnel officer of the "Alpha" special operations department of the FSB, Alexander Belodyedov.

The agent's main task was to collect information about Ukrainian military aviation. In particular, the enemy tried to obtain the coordinates of operational airfields, logistics hubs and technical maintenance centers of combat aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

If the appropriate geolocations were obtained, the occupiers hoped to launch missile and drone strikes on them. SSU employees exposed the "mole" in advance, documented his contacts with the russian special services and detained him.

The Security Service also carried out comprehensive measures to secure the locations of Ukrainian troops.

For treason in wartime, the major faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. His ex-wife, who is in the temporarily occupied southern part of Ukraine, was also suspected in absentia.
