Gas injection at record-breaking level since 2023 - 55.6 million cubic meters per day

The volume of natural gas injection into Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities (UGS) increased by almost 10% on July 1 to 55.6 million cubic meters, a new daily high since September 2023.

This was announced by the ExPro publication, citing GIE data, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Ukraine continues to increase the volume of natural gas injection into storage facilities in preparation for the next heating season.

The increase in injection volumes in early July is due to an increase in natural gas imports to Ukraine.

The report states that gas imports have increased by 40% since the beginning of July to 26.7 million cubic meters.

During June, 1.35 billion cubic meters of natural gas were injected into Ukrainian storage facilities, which is 1.8 times more than in June last year.

The average daily volume of gas injection in June was almost 45 million cubic meters, with over 50 million cubic meters being injected into storage facilities for the first time this year on the last day of June.

It is noted that if the gas injection rate remains stable, Ukraine may additionally accumulate 1.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas in storage facilities during the month, and the total level of filling of underground gas storage facilities will approach 10 billion cubic meters by the beginning of August.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine is actively pumping natural gas into underground gas storage facilities, reducing the backlog from last year.

Natural gas reserves in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities exceeded 8 billion cubic meters on June 28.
