The Cabinet of Ministers has dismissed Taras Kremin from the position of Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language. This is stated in a government message on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"At its meeting on July 2, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted an order to dismiss... Taras Dmytrovych Kremin from the position of Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language (from July 8, 2025 in connection with the expiration of the term of appointment to the position)," the message says.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 8, 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Ukrainian language teacher Taras Kremin to the position of Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language.
On the eve of his dismissal, Kremin contacted the police because of a concert by Verka Serduchka (Andrii Danylko), at which several russian-language songs of the performer were performed.
In October 2024, Kremin stated that diglossia (bilingualism) among Ukrainians could lead to irreversible consequences. At the same time, a wave of indignation was caused by Kremin's words that diglossia could allegedly cause "linguistic schizophrenia."
