Russian dictator vladimir putin said that the aggressor country russia allegedly intends to reduce defense spending in the next few years.
According to The Moscow Times, Reuters reported this on Friday, June 27.
According to putin, russia's defense spending in 2025 increased by another quarter and amounts to 6.3% of gross domestic product (GDP).
"Now here's the most important thing. We plan to reduce defense spending. We have plans for next year and the year after, for the next three years," the russian dictator said.
At the same time, he added that the defense, finance, and economic development ministries of the russian federation have not yet reached a final agreement on this issue.
Putin admitted that spending more than 30% of the budget on military spending has led to increased inflation. According to him, this is "a lot."
"We paid for it with inflation. But we are now fighting this inflation. Yes, we are purposefully moving towards ensuring that the economy has a soft landing in some way," the russian dictator added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 23 it became known that russia had postponed a large-scale infrastructure project to expand the railway in Siberia and the Far East. All due to a lack of money.
Earlier, we wrote that the revenues of russian oil and gas companies have fallen almost by half since the beginning of 2025. The reason for this was sanctions and a drop in world oil prices.
