Police conducting searches in case of possible fraud by Nazarii Husakov

Law enforcement officers are conducting searches in case of possible fraud during fundraising for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) for Nazarii Husakov. They are being conducted in Lviv and Kyiv at the residences of Husakov himself and the persons he involved in raising money for the purchase of an expensive drug. This is stated in the message of the National Police.

Thus, the police are conducting searches at the homes of close friends and acquaintances of Nazarii, whose bank cards he used to receive charitable contributions, and at the person who helped him transfer cash and non-cash funds collected for donations into cryptocurrency.

The National Police emphasized that their actions are aimed at documenting possible facts of misuse of charitable funds, as well as establishing the whereabouts of persons who may be involved in the alleged criminal activity.

As noted, specialists from the Cyber Police Department are analyzing information on the movement of funds, in particular, cryptocurrency wallets, where the received contributions could have been withdrawn. At the same time, employees of the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine are checking the movement of funds in the bank accounts of Nazariy and other persons who could have been involved in collecting donations.

The circle of victims who could have suffered from fraudulent actions is also being established.

Investigative actions are taking place in Kyiv within the framework of a pre-trial investigation of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 4 of Article 190 (fraud) and Part 3 of Article 209 (legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Nazarii Husakov, who was collecting funds for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), is suspected of abusing charitable donations.

Doubts about Nazarii Husakov's funds arose after social media users asked for confirmation of his medical expenses. They found inconsistencies in his words, repeated photos of "drugs" and information about playing poker and having ties to betting. This raised suspicions that the funds might not have been spent on treatment.

Nazarii himself admitted that he was collecting money not only for medicine, but also "for life" in general, and agreed that he should have been more transparent. President Zelenskyy reported that Husakov left Ukraine on June 13.

At the same time, the National Police appealed to citizens who transferred money for Husakov's treatment with a request to provide information as part of the criminal proceedings.
