Russia launches "white Shaheds" into Ukraine – improved with artificial intelligence, cameras and radio control. How do they differ from previous ones

Russia is launching improved "white" Shahed-136 strike drones into Ukraine, which now have cameras, radio control modules and elements of artificial intelligence. This is reported by the Associated Press.

The agency reports that this became known last week when Ukrainian drone hunters, who were collecting debris after night attacks by russia on their cities, discovered a weapon that stood out among the others.

"It had an advanced camera, a computing platform powered by artificial intelligence and a radio link, allowing an operator to pilot it remotely from Russia. It also contained new, Iranian-made, anti-jamming technology, according to a Ukrainian drone expert," the report says.

Electronics expert Serhii Beskrestnov said that unlike conventional russian strike drones, which are black, this one was white. He also said that there were no markings or labels inside that correspond to russian drones. Instead, the stickers corresponded to the "standard Iran labelling system." The agency's experts admit that Iran probably sold it to russia for combat testing.

Beskrestnov also said that the electronics in the drone, which was recently found in Ukraine, are also very expensive - for example, an AI computing platform, a camera and radio communications. Beskrestnov suggested that it could be used to attack critical infrastructure, including power transmission towers.

According to him, the drone has eight antennas, not four, which means that it is more difficult for Ukraine to suppress it with electronic warfare means. According to Beskrestnov, the new drone has markings that suggest that the jamming unit was manufactured in Iran over the past year, and also bears similarities to Iranian components found in older Shahed models.

Recall that earlier Beskrestnov denied the veracity of technical information about the new Shaheds – the drones are not controlled during flight via the Telegram messenger and do not use Ukrainian mobile networks.
