During the russian missile attack on Kyiv on the night of June 23, Volodymyr Moseychuk, a player for the amateur football club Temp United, and his girlfriend Anna were tragically killed.
The organizers of the Street Football Challenge Kyiv tournament announced their deaths on Instagram.
"There are no words to describe the pain. This is not "somewhere out there" - this is nearby. These are people we knew, played with, laughed with, planned. War does not choose, it simply takes. Therefore, we must be there for each other, support and help," the post says.
Moseychuk played at the amateur level and was well-known to the city's football community.
According to the State Emergency Service, one of the epicenters of the strike was a residential high-rise building. In total, at least nine people were killed as a result of the shelling.
