Russia preparing to ban study of Ukrainian language and literature in occupied territories

The aggressor country of russia is preparing to ban the study of the Ukrainian language and literature in the occupied territories of Ukraine. The relevant order has been prepared by the Ministry of Education of the russian federation.

It was reported by the russian publication Kommersant.

The russian agency has published a draft order with amendments to the federal general education programs (FZOP).

It is proposed to exclude from the FZOP a block dedicated to teaching the native language in schools of the national republics.

"The Ministry of Education plans to exclude from the FZOP a block dedicated to teaching the Ukrainian language at all educational levels. The current program for this language is completely invalid," the publication writes.

The order states that the study of the Ukrainian language is invalid due to the "changed geopolitical situation that has developed in the world."

According to the Ministry of Education of the russian federation, in the previous academic year, the Ukrainian language was studied in schools in the occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions.

In the russian-controlled territories of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, the Ukrainian language was taught in schools based on applications from parents. Also for this reason, the language was studied in the occupied Crimea and the Republic of Bashkortostan.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, at the end of May this year it became known that in Poland the Ukrainian language will be taught in schools as a second foreign language.

As we recall, in January, the Center for National Resistance stated that the russians intend to intensify their repressive policy towards the Ukrainian language in the occupied territories.
