The Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Maliuk said that last year the SSU managed to detain employees of the Administration of State Guard of Ukraine recruited by the russians, who planned to eliminate President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a walk through the territory of the Office of the President.
He told journalists about this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Last year there was a very high-profile implementation. A State Guard Administration colonel, head of the State Security Department, was detained. These are the ones who are supposed to protect the "tops" in this country, and this is their function. At the same time, they were preparing an assassination attempt on our President - Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy. According to their criminal plan, they were looking for people and were supposed to implement it during his passage through the territory of the Office of the President of Ukraine," Maliuk said.
Another colonel was detained with him. They worked for the FSB of the russian federation, namely: the 5th service.
At that time, it was headed by Lieutenant General Beseda, who was dismissed by putin after this failure.
"For our part, it was a very difficult job. We were engaged in it for almost two years, in fact, since the beginning of the war. We carried out a powerful intelligence and technical penetration into this group. In addition to the assassination attempt on the President, they collected information, transmitted it, including preparing an assassination attempt on my colleague Kyrylo Oleksiiovych Budanov and on me personally," said Maliuk.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Maliuk told how russian special services tried to eliminate President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Rzeszów, Poland.
