The Cabinet of Ministers at an extraordinary meeting on Monday, June 23, allocated over UAH 22 billion provided by international partners for restoration.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Today, at an extraordinary meeting, the government is allocating over UAH 22 billion of financial resources provided by partners for restoration needs," he said.
In particular:
almost UAH 18.5 billion from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was transferred for the needs of medicine, education, agriculture, humanitarian demining and for the restoration of municipal services in cities;
about UAH 1.4 billion from JICA was allocated for the reconstruction of the energy sector, for the training and education of sappers;
almost UAH 2.2 billion of budget support from the European Union has been allocated for the reconstruction and modernization of port infrastructure.
Shmyhal expressed gratitude to partners for their solidarity, noting that the reconstruction of Ukraine will be a major global project, the success of which will determine the future of Europe and the world.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to an assessment by the World Bank, the European Commission and the United Nations, as of December 31, 2024, the total cost of reconstruction and recovery in Ukraine over the next decade is USD 524 billion.
