The Verkhovna Rada has supported the resignation of parliamentarian Oles Dovhyi (non-factional), there is a new anti-record in the parliament for the number of MPs – 398.
Member of Parliament from the Holos faction Yaroslav Zhelezniak announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The Rada has supported the resignation of the mandate of parliamentarian Oles Dovhyi. In favor - 244 (votes). In the Parliament, there is a new anti-record in the number of MPs, 398," he said.
The Rada has prematurely terminated the powers of MP Dovhyi, elected in single-mandate electoral district No. 102, Kirovohrad Region, in connection with his personal statement about resigning from his parliamentary powers.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Dovhyi announced on Facebook on June 18 that he had written a statement about the termination of his parliamentary powers and no longer plans to run for office or work in state structures.
Dovhyi was elected as a MP in a single-mandate electoral district, in which case the electoral legislation stipulates that the Central Election Commission must schedule by-elections of the Member of Parliament of Ukraine. Since martial law continues in Ukraine, in accordance with the Law "On the Legal Regime of Martial Law", holding elections, in particular to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, is prohibited.
Thus, despite the fact that the Constitution provides for 450 MPs in the Verkhovna Rada, in fact, after Dovhyi's mandate laying down, 398 MPs remain in parliament.
