MP from Servant of the People calls Ukrainians main source of corruption

Member of Parliament from the Servant of the People faction Dmytro Hurin has commented on the verdict of the former head of the Ternopil Regional Council Mykhailo Holovko, emphasizing that corruption in Ukraine exists not only through officials, but also through the citizens themselves.

"Bribes are not only taken, they are also given. You can campaign for a long time for the appointment of officials, but citizens should not give bribes for this, but go to the police, the State Bureau of Investigation and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. And it will work," said Hurin.

According to him, the responsibility for the spread of corrupt practices lies not only with officials, but also with those who offer them bribes.

The MP also positively assessed the actions of the person who passed on information about Holovko's offenses to law enforcement officers, calling them a "great guy."

The source of Ukrainian corruption is the Ukrainian people.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the ex-chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council Holovko was imprisoned for 9 years for a bribe.

During the war, Holovko and his family managed to sell 2 Honda SUVs, an apartment and a service station, a car wash, and give his son an apartment. During a search of the ex-chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council Holovko, law enforcement officers found a grenade launcher shot. Holovko, who is suspected of taking bribes, did not appear in court and thus "gave" the state UAH 800,000 of his bail, which was collected to the state budget.

Mykhailo Holovko, who was detained for bribery by the NACB detectives, was born on May 3, 1983, in the village of Toky, Ternopil Region. He was a member of Parliament of Ukraine of the 7th and 8th convocations, and the chairman of the Regional Council since November 25, 2020.
