The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko reported that it will take 14 months to fully identify the bodies of the killed returned to Ukraine. He emphasized that the complexity of the experts' work lies in the condition in which the bodies of Ukrainian defenders arrive.
He reported this on the air of a telethon.
Thus, according to him, 6,060 bodies have been repatriated so far.
"No matter how hard it is to talk about it, each package that we receive, unfortunately, can contain not only one body - it can contain many remains of bodies," he emphasized.
Moreover, according to him, during the examination, experts discovered the remains of the same person in different packages, or even during different stages of repatriation.
"The enemy is trying to do everything to complicate this work, delay time, or even accuse us of inaction," Klymenko said.
The Minister of Internal Affairs noted that Ukrainian specialists must conduct a DNA examination of each body or remains. If it is established that they do not belong to Ukrainian defenders, they are returned to the russian federation.
Klymenko stressed that the relevant services are making every effort to conduct all necessary examinations and transfer the bodies to families for honoring and burial.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, according to Klymenko, russia is deliberately complicating the process of identifying the returned bodies of deceased Ukrainians; during the latest repatriations, the russian federation transferred the bodies of russian military personnel mixed with the bodies of Ukrainians.
