Trump leaves G7 summit early due to Middle East developments

US President Donald Trump has decided to leave the G7 summit in Kananaskis (Canada) early and return to Washington. The reason was the aggravated situation in the Middle East.

CNN reported this with reference to the statement of White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt on X.

According to Leavitt, "President Trump spent a productive day at the summit, concluding an important trade agreement with the UK and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. However, given the events in the Middle East, he is forced to leave the summit after dinner with the leaders of the countries."

Previously, Trump was scheduled to leave Canada on Tuesday after a press conference. However, shortly before the announcement of the change of plans, he published a call on Truth Social: that everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran.

CNN later confirmed that Trump personally decided to urgently return to Washington in connection with the events between Israel and Iran.

As a reminder, Trump was scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the summit. It will likely have to be canceled or postponed.
