The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, ruled out the possibility of the occupation of the city of Sumy and added that talking about such a thing and assuming occupation is to lose faith in Ukraine's victory. He reported this in his interview with Suspilne. Sumy.
"The possibility of the occupation of Sumy, in my opinion, as a Sumy resident, as the head of the military administration, is excluded. In my opinion, this is impossible. If we talk about such a thing and assume occupation, it is to lose faith in our victory," said Hryhorov.
Also, Hryhorov answered the question of whether it is necessary to think about the evacuation of residents of the Sumy Region, including children.
"I am deprived of the opportunity to make emotional statements, I rely exclusively on specific facts. Therefore, there are no questions about announcing an evacuation at the moment," he said.
It is reported that the algorithm for evacuating residents is not modeled exclusively for Sumy, and evacuation plans exist even for the city of Lutsk and the city of Uzhhorod, as there are for each settlement depending on the situation.
"And, of course, Sumy, like Shostka, Konotop, Hlukhiv, Uzhhorod, Mukachevo and Rivne, has evacuation plans and relevant calculations. Of course, they are updated and brought to the maximum understanding of the relevant situation. This is what I can say," the head of the Regional Military Administration emphasized.
It is currently reported that trains are running in the Sumy Region in the direction of Sumy - Kharkiv and Sumy - Kyiv, and in case of a complication of the situation, possible changes in railway routes, the use of combined routes: partly road, partly rail, are being considered at the Cabinet level. Several options for railway movements have been calculated, taking into account the security component.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Defense Forces of Ukraine are gradually pushing out units of the army of the aggressor country russia from the territory of the Sumy Region.
