Scandalous Naftogaz ex-head Kobolev suggests possible gas price increase after Israel's strikes on Iran

Scandalous ex-head of Naftogaz NJSC Andrii Kobolev predicts possible gas price increase in Europe after Israel's strikes on Iran.

He announced this on his Facebook page, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Kobolev wrote that Iran supplied gas to Turkey, and Turkey resold gas to the EU.

Now Iranian gas is at risk of being stopped.

He noted that the Turks will not be able to replace it with russian gas, because both gas pipelines are loaded almost to full capacity.

Therefore, Turkey will be forced to either reduce gas supplies to the EU or increase the share of more expensive LNG.

In any case, this will push prices in the EU up and, accordingly, gas may become more expensive for Ukraine.

Kobolev suggested that if Israel continues to shell the Iranian gas sector, some of the russian gas could be redirected to Iran.

He also advised to prepare for a possible price increase.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, NABU and SAPO exposed a scheme of abuse in Ukrgasvydobuvannia during Kobolev's time worth UAH 211 million.

From 2014 to 2021, Naftogaz was managed by Andrii Kobolev.

He illegally wrote himself a bonus of USD 10 million.

This is the largest bonus in the history of Ukraine.

NABU accuses him of embezzlement of money, which threatens him with 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Kobolev was put on an electronic bracelet last year to prevent him from escaping.

But the trial on the merits of the charges has not yet begun.
