The gas transmission system operators of Poland and Ukraine have agreed to temporarily increase the level of guaranteed throughput capacity in the direction of Ukraine from 6.4 to 12.4 million cubic meters per day.
The Ministry of Energy has announced this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The message states that part of the additional capacity will be offered during the monthly auction for July 2025, which will take place on June 16.
At the initiative of the Ministry of Energy, the GTS operators held a series of technical negotiations and studies aimed at identifying potential options for providing additional gas transportation capabilities to Ukraine.
To ensure stable capacity on a more permanent basis, Gaz-System is reconstructing the Hermanowice gas metering station.
Earlier in May, the gas transmission system operators agreed to extend the offer of the existing guaranteed capacity for the 2025/2026 gas year.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the former CEO of the Gas Transportation System Operator of Ukraine (GTSO) Serhii Makohon said that as of the end of May, 2.02 billion cubic meters of active gas were stored in Ukraine's underground storage facilities - this is the lowest figure in the entire history of observations.
