On Thursday, June 12, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius arrived in Kyiv on an official visit. This was reported by the German publication Spiegel.
As noted, during the visit, Pistorius intends to familiarize himself with the current situation in Ukraine and discuss further military assistance with representatives of the Ukrainian government.
"We are doing everything possible to support Ukraine so that it can defend itself and get into a position where russia is ready for serious negotiations," the head of the German Defense Ministry said before today's visit.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz recently stated that Germany's military support for Ukraine will be continued and expanded. In particular, he emphasized that there will be no restrictions on long-range weapons for Ukraine and that Ukraine will be able to fully defend itself, as well as strike military targets outside Ukrainian territory.
Merz also stated that Germany would do everything to ensure that the russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline never becomes operational.
