Russia's losses in war against Ukraine exceeded one million - AFU General Staff

The losses of the russian occupation forces since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine have reached one million people. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.

According to official statistics, since February 2022, more than 1,000,000 occupiers have been killed or wounded. Of these, 628,000 have been killed in the last year and a half alone.

“In 2022, the occupiers lost 106,720 people (an average of 340 people per day). In 2023 – 253,290 people (an average of 693 per day), in 2024 – 430,790 people (an average of 1,177 per day). In 2025, as of June 4, the enemy’s losses have already exceeded 200,000 people. Daily losses this year are an average of 1,286 people,” the General Staff said in a statement.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine first published statistics on the losses of russian troops on March 1, 2022. At that time, 5,710 occupiers were reported eliminated and 200 captured. Already on March 2, this figure increased to 5,840, and on March 3, after clarification, it amounted to 9,000.

The General Staff also named the most productive days for the Defense Forces of Ukraine:

  • “November 28, 2024 - 2,030 occupiers were neutralized in a day”;
  • “December 19, 2024 - 2,200 people”;
  • “December 29, 2024 - 2,010 people”.

“A million killed and wounded are the result of aggression, disregard for human life and the failed strategy of the russian command,” the General Staff noted.

The Ukrainian military emphasizes: the calculation of losses is carried out according to confirmed data and is complicated by the high intensity of hostilities.
