Defense Ministry tests and admits to operation new armored vehicle Varta-2

The Ministry of Defense codified and admitted to operation in the Defense Forces the new tactical armored vehicle Varta-2.

The manufacturer – Ukrainian Armored Vehicles – reported this with reference to Deputy Minister of Defense Valerii Churkin.

"Providing the army with modern armored vehicles remains one of the priorities of the Ministry of Defense. New armored vehicles must meet strict criteria of efficiency, reliability and, above all, have a high degree of protection for the crew and the landing force. It is important that the new weapons and equipment offered to the army have significant technological potential, in particular in terms of firepower, security, and functionality," said Deputy Minister Valerii Churkin.

As the director general of Ukrainian Armored Vehicles LLC Vladyslav Belbas said, when developing the Varta-2 armored vehicle, the company took into account ten years of experience and the requirements of the front.

"The Varta-2 wheeled combat vehicle is a battlefield vehicle. The technical parameters of the armored vehicle allow for the installation of various combat modules, which provides significant firepower and significantly expands the range of tasks that such a combat unit can perform. We managed to successfully integrate the domestic 30 mm Sich combat module into the vehicle," Belbas said.

According to him, the main task of Varta-2 is reliable protection of the fighter on the battlefield, which is why the company paid special attention to the relevant technical parameters during development – the ballistic protection of the vehicle meets the STANAG 3 standard, and mine protection – class 3A/3B.

Belbas also emphasized that Varta-2 has no analogues on the market in terms of its technical parameters and solutions, and is essentially the first armored vehicle of this class that was created specifically by the domestic military-industrial complex.

"A lot of such equipment is needed at the front, so an additional advantage of Varta-2 is the cost: if we have a normal serial order, this vehicle will be cheaper than similar domestic vehicles, and much cheaper than foreign ones," the director general of Ukrainian Armored Vehicles LLC assured.
