Zelenskyy imposes sanctions on individuals involved in abduction of Ukrainian children

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to impose personal sanctions on individuals involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children.

The head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak, reported this on his Telegram channel on Tuesday, June 10.

Yermak noted that personal sanctions have been imposed against 46 individuals and 9 legal entities. According to him, among those involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children are collaborators in the temporarily occupied territories, officials from the regions of the aggressor country, russia, involved in deportations. The sanctions also apply to organizers of the forced "re-education" of children, activists of paramilitary children's and youth movements such as "Yunarmiya", as well as institutions where Ukrainian children were tried to be turned "into obedient soldiers of the Russian regime".

"These are those who, with the help of the Kremlin, steal children's right to family, freedom and national identity. The state counteracts these crimes not only diplomatically, but also through sanction mechanisms. The abduction of Ukrainian children is a war crime," Yermak wrote.

On June 2, Head of the Presidential Office Andrii Yermak reported that during negotiations in Istanbul, Ukraine handed over to russia a list of Ukrainian children who need to be returned.

As a reminder, on April 24, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence proposed to the parliament to qualify the illegal movement of children as a war crime.
