Ukraine continues to work on the return of 6,000 bodies of fallen defenders within the framework of the agreements with the aggressor country of the russian federation, which were reached in Istanbul.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has stated this, the press service of the Defense Ministry reports.
"Extremely sensitive and painful work continues on the large-scale repatriation of the bodies of fallen soldiers. This is about the return "on the shield" of more than 6,000 Ukrainian defenders who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine. This process is also provided for by the agreements," he wrote.
Recall that on June 7, an assistant to russian dictator putin, Vladimir Medinsky, stated that Ukraine allegedly "unexpectedly postponed the exchange of bodies of the fallen and the exchange of prisoners of war for an indefinite period."
The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War responded that the statements of the russian side do not correspond to reality and previous agreements.
"Regarding the repatriation of the bodies, an agreement was indeed reached. The date was not agreed upon. Instead, instead of consistently implementing the agreed algorithm, the russian side resorted to unilateral actions that were not agreed upon within the framework of the joint process," the headquarters said.
