Canada extends preferential regime for imports of Ukrainian goods

The Canadian government has extended the validity of the resolution, which provides for the abolition of customs duties on imports of Ukrainian goods, for the next 12 months.

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko announced this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Ukrainian goods will continue duty-free access to the Canadian market until June 9, 2026.

It is noted that the decree on exemption from customs duties for Ukrainian goods entered into force on June 9, 2022 for an initial one-year period, and was then extended annually.

Since the introduction of the preferential regime in 2022, Ukrainian exports under this program to Canada have already reached more than USD 35 million, and Canadian importers have saved USD 8.5 million in customs duties.

The extension provides the potential for another USD 1.2 million in savings.

Total exports to Canada in 2024 amounted to USD 152 million.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Canadian Ministry of Defense announced that the country's government will provide a military assistance package to Ukraine.
