Russia on fire. Drone attack halts production of missile parts at Cheboksary defense plant

In Cheboksary, after a drone strike, the work of an enterprise that produces components for russian missiles, drones, and guided bombs has been suspended. A fire broke out on the factory’s territory.

The governor of Chuvashia, Oleg Nikolayev, reported this on Telegram.

“Two UAVs fell on the territory of VNIIR JSC, which is why a responsible decision was made to temporarily suspend production to ensure the safety of employees,” he noted.

Russian Telegram channels published a video of a large fire on the site.

The VNIIR-Progress plant specializes in the production of satellite signal receivers of the Comet/Comet-M series, which are designed to counter electronic warfare. These modules are used in missiles such as Kalibr, Kh-69, Iskander-M, Banderol and drones such as Garpiya-A1, Orlan-10, Lastochka-M, Kartograf, Forpost, and Orion.

In 2024, the russian Pervyi Kanal, in a story about the Comet-M module, stated that it is used in FAB-250M-62/270 guided aerial bombs with planning and correction modules, which allegedly work effectively despite enemy electronic warfare (EW) equipment.

The enterprise is part of the ABS Electro production association, which develops and manufactures electronic systems, automated complexes, electrical and scientific and technical equipment.
