US says russia has not yet carried out full-fledged "retaliatory strike" and preparing attacks on government buildings

The US believes that russia has not yet carried out a "real retaliatory strike" for the large-scale drone attack on the airfields of strategic and long-range russian aviation and is preparing a significant strike. This is reported by Reuters.

Thus, anonymous sources tell the agency that the future targets of russian strikes are unknown, but it is reported that the russian response will be "asymmetric". One of the interlocutors also said that the attack could occur in the coming days.

Diplomatic sources report that russia is likely to carry out strikes on symbolic targets, in particular government buildings, to send a clear signal to Kyiv. Carnegie Endowment expert Michael Kofman predicts possible attacks on the headquarters of the Security Service of Ukraine or defense enterprises, although he emphasizes russia's limited capabilities for escalation.

"Most likely, they will try to strike the SSU headquarters or other buildings of the regional intelligence department... In general, russia's ability to significantly intensify strikes compared to what it is already doing - and has been trying to do over the past month - is quite limited," Kofman said.

But the russian federation's ability to strike may be limited, since the aggressor country is sending most of its military forces to Ukraine. In particular, the agency's material says, in particular, that a high-ranking diplomat-source of the publication expects the attack to be "massive, brutal and continuous", but at the same time - "Ukrainians are a brave people".

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, US President Donald Trump expressed the opinion that Ukraine itself provoked the russian strikes by carrying out special operation Spider Web.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stressed that the aggressor state of russia responded to the defeat of its strategic aviation with an attack on the civilian population of Ukraine. He added that the response should be strong sanctions and strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.
