The visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Washington (USA) was a preparation for the meeting of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit (US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Japan) in Canada. This was reported by the head of the President's Office Andrii Yermak. His words were quoted by Ukrinform on Friday, June 6.
Yermak noted that the visit to Washington was aimed not only at resolving economic issues. According to him, in the US, the Ukrainian delegation was preparing for a bilateral meeting between the Presidents of Ukraine and the US.
"Our visit was a preparation, including, I think, for the meeting between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Trump on the sidelines of the G7 in Canada, which will take place in 10 days. Therefore, this was the first, one of the important steps in preparing for this conversation," Yermak emphasized.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 3, Yermak said that the Ukrainian delegation led by First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyrydenko arrived in Washington to discuss the agreement on minerals, strengthening sanctions against the aggressor country of russia, and defense support for Ukraine.
Recall, on February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump repeatedly clashed during a meeting in the Oval Office of the White House.
Zelenskyy left the White House early after a dispute with Trump.
