Trump outraged by Ukraine’s strikes on russia: pressure growing in Washington to limit support for Kyiv - media

US President Donald Trump has reacted sharply to Ukraine’s recent strikes on russian military facilities, including strategic airfields. This has caused serious discontent in the White House and has become the basis for new discussions about the possible curtailment of military and financial support for Ukraine.

This was reported by The Atlantic, citing three representatives of the US administration and one external adviser.

According to sources, Trump expressed disappointment in conversations with advisers that Kyiv had not coordinated its actions with Washington. He perceived the strikes as a step that could significantly complicate the negotiation process and lead to further escalation.

“Zelenskyy did not warn the US President that he was going to strike deep into russia’s strategic forces, which would lead to a rapid escalation of the conflict, the day before the meeting in Turkey?” said former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.

According to sources, Trump privately called Volodymyr Zelenskyy a "hothead" who, in his opinion, could drag the world into a global conflict. The US President's entourage is concerned that such actions by Kyiv could disrupt negotiations, in particular the announced meeting of Ukrainian and russian representatives in Istanbul.

It is also noted that this week Trump expressed support for the position of the right wing of the political spectrum, criticizing Zelenskyy for allegedly excessive publicity after drone strikes on russian territory. According to one of the advisers, although Trump recognized the boldness of the actions of Ukrainian forces, he believes that Kyiv should focus on negotiations, not military provocations.
