During the Web operation, Ukrainian special services destroyed at least one A-50 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft at the russian Ivanovo airbase.
It was reported by OSINT-public Geoint, which analyzed satellite images of the consequences of the attack.
The images show that at least one A-50 early warning aircraft was completely burned.
What is the A-50 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft?
The A-50 is a long-range radar detection aircraft capable of coordinating aviation operations and detecting targets at long distances (bombers up to 650 km, fighters up to 300 km, cruise missiles up to 215 km). It is equipped with a system that includes a powerful radar, digital computing systems, communications and other technologies. The A-50 plays a key role in aerial reconnaissance, especially in detecting targets for the russian Su-35S and MiG-31BM fighters, which are effectively "blind" without it. These aircraft can use long-range missiles only under instructions from the A-50.

What is known about the Web operation?
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, last Sunday, June 1, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted an operation called Web. Its target was the strategic aviation aircraft of the russian army.
The Belaya (Irkutsk Oblast), Dyagilevo (Ryazan Oblast), Olenya (Murmansk Oblast) and Ivanovo (Ivanovo Oblast) airfields were hit by Ukrainian drones.
As a result of the Web operation, 41 aircraft of the russian army were destroyed, including Tu-95MS, Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 bombers.
Later, the SSU stated that the estimated cost of the destroyed and damaged aircraft is USD 7 billion.
As a reminder, on June 2, satellite images of the Belaya airbase in the Irkutsk Oblast appeared online. They show damaged russian aircraft.
