Ukraine has its cards - EU Ambassador comments on operation Spider Web

The European Union Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarína Mathernová, said that the operation to attack the military airfields of the aggressor country, russia, demonstrates that Ukraine has its "cards."

She said this in a video she posted on the social network Facebook.

"It is important to recognize: no, russia does not hold all the cards, Ukraine has its cards. It has a strong defense industry, is capable of innovation and has the potential to conduct such operations," Mathernová said.

The EU Ambassador noted that Ukraine struck airfields from which russian aircraft took off to carry out missile attacks on civilian infrastructure and the civilian population of Ukraine.

Mathernová added that the operation by Ukrainian special services aroused admiration around the world.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, last Sunday, June 1, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted an operation called Spider Web. Its target was the strategic aviation aircraft of the russian army.

The airfields Belaya (Irkutsk Oblast), Dyagilevo (Ryazan Oblast), Olenya (Murmansk Oblast) and Ivanovo (Ivanov Oblast) were hit by Ukrainian drones.

As a result of the Spider Web operation, 41 aircraft of the russian army were destroyed, including Tu-95MS, Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 bombers.

Later, the SSU stated that the estimated cost of the destroyed and damaged aircraft is USD 7 billion.

Recall that today, June 2, satellite images of the Belaya airbase in the Irkutsk Oblast appeared on the Internet. They show the hit russian aircraft.
