Defense Minister Rustem Umerov will lead Ukraine's delegation at talks with representatives of the aggressor country russia, which will be held tomorrow, June 2, in Istanbul.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on his Telegram channel.
"We are doing everything to protect our independence, our state and our people. I have set tasks for the near future. I have also set positions before the meeting in Istanbul on Monday," the President wrote.
Among the tasks:
- a complete and unconditional ceasefire.
- the release of prisoners.
- the return of abducted children.
- preparation of a meeting at the highest level, "to establish a reliable and lasting peace and guarantee security"
"Only leaders can resolve key issues. Our delegation on Monday will be headed by Rustem Umerov," Zelenskyy added.
We will remind, Ukraine previously conveyed to russia its vision of steps towards a ceasefire and is awaiting their "memorandum".
