Ground Forces Commander Drapatyi resigns due to tragedy at training ground

The Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi decided to resign. He called the reason today's russian strike on the 239th training ground, which killed 12 soldiers. Drapatyi wrote about this on his Facebook page.

"This is a conscious step, dictated by my personal sense of responsibility for the tragedy at the 239th training ground, which killed our soldiers. As a commander, I was unable to fully ensure the execution of my orders. I did not pressure, persuade, or change the attitude towards a person in the ranks. This is my responsibility," he wrote.

He stated that he was trying to eradicate impunity and mutual cover-up from the Ground Forces.

"But if tragedies are repeated, it means that my efforts were not enough.

We have no right to live in a system that does not learn. If we do not draw conclusions, do not change our attitude to the service, do not admit our mistakes, we are doomed. Without personal responsibility, there is no development. Without development, there is no victory," Drapatyi says.

"An army in which commanders are personally responsible for people's lives lives. An army where no one is responsible for the loss dies from the inside," he added.

Drapatyi also reported that he initiated an investigation into all the circumstances of the tragedy: the actions of commanders, the condition of shelters, the effectiveness of warning systems. All victims are being provided with assistance.

Recall that on June 1, the russian federation hit a training unit of the Ground Forces with a missile, 12 people were killed, more than 60 were injured. It was reported that after the air raid warning signal was announced, most of the personnel were in shelters.
