Head of European diplomacy calls alliance between russia and China "greatest challenge" of our time

The growing cooperation between moscow and Beijing, amid the russian invasion of Ukraine and the ongoing pressure on Taiwan by China, should cause "extreme concern" for the world community, said the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

She stressed that China and russia have recently declared a review of the global security order and "jointly implementing" these changes, "unseen in the last hundred years."

"This is the greatest challenge of our time," Kallas said on Saturday during a speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue security conference in Singapore.

The head of European diplomacy also accused Beijing of supporting russia's military machine. According to her, moscow receives 80% of dual-use goods used for aggression against Ukraine from China.

Referring to Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth's words about the threat to Asian countries from China, she noted that russia should also cause them serious concern.

"If you are worried about China, you should be worried about Russia," Kallas told representatives of Southeast Asian countries cooperating with the EU.

Kallas also called on European and Asian partners to work together to combat shadow tankers and revise maritime safety laws.
