The russian publication The Moscow Times reported this with reference to its own sources.
The publication's interlocutors said that the "shocking" episode was purposefully promoted by the russian security forces in the media in order to glorify putin.
This episode was also supposed to instill in russians that their leader allegedly also "shares the danger" with them.
"Russians, relatives, look! President Putin himself is suffering, tormented and even risking his own life. Your problems are trifles. You need to grit your teeth and suffer," the publication quotes the interlocutors as saying.
The publication's sources said that Putin did indeed visit the Kursk Oblast, but his security was ensured at the highest level.
