At least 110,000 servicemen of the army of the aggressor country russia been killed since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In two weeks, this number has increased by 2,000 people.
This is stated in the investigation of BBC News and the russian publication Mediazona, which are counting the dead soldiers of the russian army based on information from open sources.
As of May 30, journalists and volunteers managed to establish the names of 110,608 russian army soldiers who were killed in the war in Ukraine.
They analyzed the latest data. The analysis showed that when converted into 10,000 people, the greatest losses were recorded in the Republic of Tuva. In this region, the mortality rate is 120 people for every 10,000 men.
The top three also include the Republic of Buryatia — 91 per 10,000 men and the Republic of Altai — 89 per 10,000 men.
It is noted that in moscow this figure is 3 per 10,000 men.
The journalists' investigation states that among the 110,000 killed russian military personnel, 27,900 were volunteers, 18,500 were contract soldiers, 17,000 were prisoners, 12,200 were mobilized, and 3,100 were mercenaries of the private military company (PMC) Wagner. The affiliation of another 31,000 killed could not be established.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the russian publication Vazhnye Istorii wrote, citing its own sources, that in 2024, from 370,000 to 407,000 people signed a contract with the russian Ministry of Defense.
And according to the American publication The New York Times, since the beginning of 2024, the russian army has captured less than 1% of Ukrainian territory, losing more than 400,000 killed and wounded.
