Opera has announced Neon AI browser, which will be able to perform tasks on behalf of the user. For example, collect information, make purchases, write code, and more. Opera Neon is not yet available to users. The company has opened a waiting list, but has not disclosed the expected release date, TechCrunch writes.
Opera reported that the browser will work on a subscription basis, but its price was also not named.
Opera Neon interface has three main functions - Chat, Do, and Make, which work on the basis of AI. The company did not say what models they use, noting that all calculations are performed in the cloud.
The Chat function launches a chat bot with which you can search for information on the Internet and request additional information about the sites you are viewing.
The Do tool uses the Browser Operator AI agent, which Opera introduced in March 2025, and allows you to automate filling out forms, purchasing in online stores, bookings, and other tasks.
The Make function can create "reports" at the user's request, generate pieces of code or full-fledged sites, games, and more, Opera claims.
In 2017, the company launched a "browser of the future" called Neon. At that time, it focused on "intelligent management" of tabs and multitasking. However, the product was not developed.
In the spring of 2023, Opera introduced an early version of the updated Opera One browser. In June of the same year, a public release with a built-in bot based on ChatGPT took place. In March 2024, support for other language models was added to it.
In addition, the company is developing a "minimalist" Opera Air with built-in tools for combating stress and increasing concentration, as well as a browser for gamers Opera GX.
As previously reported, an assistant with artificial intelligence will appear in Diia for receiving services, the beta test will start on the portal in June.
