The aggressor country russia should take seriously the threat of US President Donald Trump to tighten restrictive measures against russia.
US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce stated this on Tuesday, May 27.
She was asked whether Trump's latest posts on Trurh Social were a consequence of his disappointment in the possibility of a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Earlier, Trump said that if it weren't for him, "lots of really bad things would already have happened" to russia. And the day before, he called russian dictator vladimir putin crazy because of the massive attacks of the russian army on Ukraine.
"I wouldn’t call it frustration. It is a statement of the man who has led the effort for peace in so many different regions, making it clear and being completely transparent about his opinion about what's transpired. And I think that is something Russia should take seriously," Bruce answered journalists' questions.
She added that the US has a sufficient number of various tools with which Washington can influence the end of the war.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 26, the American publication The New York Times wrote, citing sources, that Trump has probably decided to move away from the settlement of the war in Ukraine. At the same time, the American leader may still impose new sanctions against russia, since he does not see progress in peace talks.
Yesterday, May 27, The Wall Street Journal also reported that Trump is considering tightening sanctions against russia. New restrictions may be introduced by the end of this week.
