The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has rejected the statement of Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, who said that Ukraine is allegedly banning the activities of the Zakarpattian Hungarians' party KMKSZ.
This was stated by the representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Heorhii Tykhyi, in a comment to European Pravda.
According to him, Szijjártó's statement is not true - Ukraine has not taken any similar actions against KMKSZ.
"Media reports that claim the opposite are not true. Our bilateral relations already have enough problems that need to be solved. There is no need to add all sorts of unfounded media reports to this list," the publication quotes Tykhyi as saying.
The representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called not to add unfounded media reports to the already existing problems.
Tykhyi's words came against the backdrop of Szijjártó's statement, which called on the Ukrainian government to immediately explain media reports about the alleged intention to ban KMKSZ.
The day before, a number of Hungarian media outlets wrote that Ukraine was allegedly going to ban the activities of Zakarpattian Hungarians.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in early May, Ukraine and Hungary carried out mutual expulsions of diplomats amid accusations of espionage.
The day before, the Security Service of Ukraine announced that a group of Hungarian spies had been exposed in Zakarpattia. They were collecting information about the military security of the region.
