15 underground schools have already been built in Ukraine, more than 180 such facilities are planned to be put into operation by the end of 2025.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The child, his safety, interests and needs should be at the center of all changes. Over the past two years, the government has allocated about UAH 14 billion for the repair and construction of shelters in schools. 15 underground school spaces have already been built in front-line regions, and by the end of the year we plan to put more than 180 such underground facilities into operation," he said.

Shmyhal noted that currently 80% of all Ukrainian schools have shelters of various types.

He also noted that the state allocated another UAH 2.8 billion for the purchase of school buses.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in December 2024, Shmyhal said that the Cabinet of Ministers would allocate UAH 6.2 billion to the regions in 2025 for the construction of shelters in schools.
