Employees of the High Anti-Corruption Court found equipment for covert audio and video surveillance in their homes.
This is stated in a message by the High Anti-Corruption Court, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The equipment for surveillance and wiretapping was found last week. "We regard these facts as attempts to influence the administration of impartial justice by judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court and associate them with the consideration of court cases that are under court proceedings.
Currently, reports of interference in the administration of justice have been filed with the High Council of Justice and the Prosecutor General's Office, and criminal proceedings have been initiated," the statement says.
According to Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges”, interference in the administration of justice, influence on the court or judges in any way, collection, storage, use and dissemination of information orally, in writing or in any other way with the aim of discrediting the court or influencing the impartiality of the court are prohibited, and interference in the activities of judicial bodies entails liability as provided for by the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
“The independence of the court is not a privilege of judges, but a constitutional guarantee of fair justice. Every attempt to monitor, control or influence the court in any way, regardless of the method or form, is a serious threat to the judicial system, law and order and democracy,” said the Head of the High Anti-Corruption Court, Vira Mykhailenko.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Prosecutor General’s Office has opened criminal proceedings against the NACB employees for illegal wiretapping of lawyers. The state budget for 2025 provided for an increase in funding for the High Anti-Corruption Court by over UAH 100 million. Ukraine is raising the salaries of judges and anti-corruption agencies because this is a condition for European integration.
