Umerov names number of Azovstal defenders rescued from captivity

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, reported this on his Facebook account on Sunday, May 25.

The third stage of the prisoner exchange was completed today, Umerov noted.

"303 of our soldiers returned from captivity - soldiers and non-commissioned officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Security Service of Ukraine, the State Security Service of Ukraine, the Navy, and the National Guard. Among them are 70 defenders of Mariupol, including 33 defenders of Azovstal," the Minister of Defense wrote.

In total, a thousand Ukrainians were returned from russian captivity, Umerov emphasized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 25, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that on May 25, the third stage of a large prisoner exchange in the "1000 for 1000" format took place.
