On the evening of May 22, the Polish Air Force intercepted a russian Su-24 bomber in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. This was announced by Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press conference, RMF24 reports.
According to him, the order to intercept was given by the NATO Joint Forces Command in Europe. Another pair of Polish fighters were scrambled, which successfully detected, escorted and repelled the russian plane.
Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that the Su-24 was performing maneuvers that were deliberately provocative and dangerous. He also stressed that similar incidents from the russian side have become more frequent - in particular, these include flights of russian aircraft from the Kaliningrad Oblast without transponders turned on, without submitting flight plans and without communication with air traffic controllers.
"We are resistant to provocations, but - both independently and within the Alliance - we react accordingly," the Polish Defense Minister emphasized.
We will remind you that the other day a ship from the aggressor country of russia carried out "suspicious" maneuvers near the place where the submarine cable connecting Poland with Sweden is located. The Polish military drove it away.
