An important russian military-industrial complex plant, Energia, which fulfills orders for the russian military-industrial complex and specializes in the production of chemical power sources, was attacked in the russian federation in the city of Yelets, Lipetsk Oblast. This was reported by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) Andrii Kovalenko in Telegram.
The CCD reports that this plant produces:
Accumulators and batteries: for unmanned aerial vehicles, aviation, the navy, radio engineering.
Lithium-ion and mercury-zinc cells used in communication, control, electronic warfare (EW) systems and simulators for tanks and missile systems.
Electrochemical capacitors: used for the needs of the russian Ministry of Defense.
Light-optical power plants: provide autonomous power supply without laying power lines.
Energia is a supplier to the russian Ministry of Defense, and also cooperates with other state structures, such as Roscosmos, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, the Ministry of Emergencies and Gazprom. The plant's products are used in communication systems, control, electronic warfare, UAVs, as well as in the production of Iskander and Kinzhal missiles.
The plant is under sanctions by the EU, the USA, Japan and other countries due to its importance for the russian military-industrial complex. However, it continued to operate.
As of now, after the attack, the plant has suspended operations.
The governor of the oblast, Igor Artamonov, says that drones were shot down in an industrial zone, the debris led to a fire and the evacuation of people. He also wrote that disruptions to mobile Internet are possible in the city, allegedly to increase the effectiveness of protection against UAVs.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, drones previously attacked a fiber optic systems factory located in Saransk, russia.
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) struck a military airfield in the city of Kubinka, Moscow Oblast. It was home to two aerobatic teams of the Air Force of the aggressor country, russia, which annually participate in the Victory Day parade.
