Russia is currently using a new tactic of mass attacks of Shaheds from high altitudes, which has significantly complicated the shooting down of enemy drones, but the effectiveness of the Ukrainian air defense system remains at a consistently high level.
Yurii Ihnat, head of the communications department of the Air Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has reported this on the air of Suspilne News.
According to him, russia is constantly improving both the visual appearance of the Shahed, as well as the technical characteristics and tactics of its use. However, the Defense Forces manage to hold the blow.
"Of course, there are hits. Of course, there are downed drones. Unfortunately, today the enemy uses a simultaneous attack of a large number of drones together with imitators. An attack from a high altitude, which actually makes the work of mobile fire groups impossible. It is extremely difficult to work in such conditions. But at the same time, you see the result. The effectiveness of air defense still remains high," Ihnat said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of Monday, May 19, russian troops launched 112 drones over the territory of Ukraine, air defense forces managed to shoot down 41 of them, another 35 enemy drones did not reach their targets (lost in location).
On the night of May 19, russian invaders struck with unmanned aerial vehicles in the Shostka District of the Sumy Region. According to preliminary data, six Shaheds hit the infrastructure of one of the local enterprises.
