Polish customs officers intercept 5 tons of tires for Boeing aircraft, they were being transported to russia

Poland intercepted a shipment of tires for aircraft of the American company Boeing, which was supposed to be sent to russia through the territory of Belarus.

This was reported by Reuters with reference to the National Tax Administration of Poland.

The tires for Boeing aircraft were trying to be transported through the Koroszczyn checkpoint in the east of the country. During the inspection of the truck, customs officers found 5 tons of tires.

"The driver was transporting tires used in Boeing civil aircraft instead of the declared tires for cars and buses," the department said in a statement.

The sender of the tires was an unnamed company from Spain, and the recipient was also an unnamed firm from Azerbaijan.

Tires for Boeing aircraft were detained because they belong to the category of goods subject to European Union sanctions.

Polish law enforcement agencies have opened a criminal case in a case of customs fraud.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in March, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty wrote, citing aviation experts, that by the end of 2025, russian airlines will be forced to abandon the operation of dozens of Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

Recall that in 2022, the russian Ministry of Transport suggested that airlines use non-original spare parts to repair Western-made civilian aircraft.

We also wrote that after the start of the full-scale invasion, russia refused to return hundreds of passenger aircraft that were seized from Western lessors.
