Former President of the United States of America (USA), 82-year-old Joseph Biden, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer with bone metastases. This is reported by CNN.
"Last week, Joe Biden was examined in connection with the discovery of a new prostate nodule after he developed certain symptoms during urination that intensified. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (group 5) with bone metastases," Biden's office said in a statement.
They noted that although this is a more aggressive form of the disease, "the cancer appears to be sensitive to hormones, which makes it possible to effectively treat it."
"Prostate cancer can be given a grade, known as the Gleason score, based on how the cells look under a microscope. A Gleason score of 9 "means it's the most aggressive form of prostate cancer," Dr. Benjamin Davies, a professor of urological oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center who, it is worth noting, is not involved in Biden's treatment, told CNN.
In turn, current US President Donald Trump, on behalf of himself and his wife Melania, wished Joe Biden a "speedy recovery."
"Melania and I are saddened by the news of Joe Biden's recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and his family, and we wish Joe a speedy and successful recovery," Trump wrote on his Truth Social network.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in April, Joe Biden gave his first speech after the end of his presidential term in which he criticized Donald Trump's administration. At the same time, Biden never once mentioned his opponent's name.
