On the eve of the presidential election in Poland, the aggressor state russia has activated another phase of the information war against European society. This is an operation called Doppelganger.
The Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has reported this.
"The Kremlin's main tool is a special operation called Doppelganger. This is one of the largest and longest-lasting information campaigns of Russia, aimed at the EU and NATO countries," the report says.
It is indicated that within the framework of this operation, the kremlin's special services create websites and pages on social networks that imitate real Western media in their content and appearance. On such resources, the kremlin spreads disinformation under the guise of real news.
In addition, the Defense Intelligence reports that in order to influence Polish voters, since March of this year, russian special services have been spreading false and manipulative messages, in particular on X, with the active involvement of bot farms and artificial accounts that imitated real voters.
It has been established that the main messages used by the kremlin are limited to criticism of Poland's support for Ukraine, calls for the country to leave the European Union, and discrediting the policy of Donald Tusk's government. At the same time, pro-russian media are forming a negative image of Ukraine, calling it the main factor in "chaos" in Polish politics.
"Such actions of the aggressor state are part of a broader strategy of Moscow's hybrid pressure on the EU and NATO countries, aimed at weakening their internal unity," the intelligence service emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, today, May 18, voting began in Poland in the presidential election, in which 13 candidates are participating.
