Farmers have already sown 87% of spring grain and legume crops from projected area

As of May 16, 2025, farmers in all regions of Ukraine have sown 4.95 million hectares of spring grain and legume crops, which is 87% of the projected area.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Buckwheat is sown in 11 regions, soybeans in 20.

It is noted that the largest area of ​​crops is corn - 3.5 million hectares (87%), barley – 743,100 hectares (96%), spring wheat has already been sown on 215,200 hectares (95%), peas – 210,900 hectares (97%), oats – 158,300 hectares (98%).

Buckwheat is sown on an area of ​​21,700 hectares (24%), millet – 25,200 hectares (33%).

Industrial crops are sown on an area of ​​6.04 million hectares (76%).

Of which: sunflower - 3.9 million hectares (77%), the leader is Dnipropetrovsk Region – 570,800 hectares; soybeans - 1.73 million hectares (72%); sugar beet – 217,100 hectares (99%).

Leading regions in terms of sowing rates: Poltava Region: 533,400 hectares (wheat – 4,500 hectares, barley – 69,100 hectares, peas – 9,600 hectares, oats – 3,100 hectares, corn – 441,900 hectares); Chernihiv Region: 435,000 hectares (wheat – 12,000 hectares, barley – 13,000 hectares, peas – 9,400 hectares, oats – 23,500 hectares, corn – 368,300 hectares); Vinnytsia Region: 368,200 hectares (wheat – 11,500 hectares, barley – 53,000 hectares, peas – 7,000 hectares, oats – 1,100 hectares, corn – 285,600 hectares); Kirovohrad Region: 362,600 hectares (wheat – 3,000 hectares, barley – 35,400 hectares, peas – 18,700 hectares, oats - 500 hectares, corn – 294,800 hectares); Kyiv Region: 359,200 hectares (wheat – 25,000, barley – 40,400 hectares, peas – 4,500 hectares, oats – 5,000 hectares, corn – 276,000 hectares).

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, as of May 9, 2025, farmers in all regions of Ukraine had sown 4.32 million hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops, which is 76% of the projected area.

In 2025, it is planned to sow more than 5.7 million hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops, which corresponds to the level of 2024.

The main feature of the new season will be an increase in the area under spring wheat to 227,500 hectares.
