Bodies of 909 fallen defenders returned to Ukraine

On Friday, May 16, the bodies of another 909 fallen soldiers were returned to Ukraine as a result of repatriation measures.

This is stated in a message from the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

It is noted that among the defenders returned "on the shield" were the fallen from:

  • Kurakhove axis;
  • Pokrovsk axis;
  • Bakhmut axis;
  • Vuhledar axis;
  • Luhansk axis;
  • Zaporizhzhia axis;
  • Sumy axis;
  • Kharkiv axis;
  • from morgues on the territory of the aggressor country, the russian federation.

"Investigators of law enforcement agencies, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, will establish the identities of the deceased as soon as possible," the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War emphasized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on April 18, Ukraine also returned the bodies of 909 fallen defenders.

It was previously reported that there is a preliminary agreement with the aggressor country, russia, that prisoner exchanges should become systematic in 2025.
